Ten Diablo 4 Reward Nodes at a Glance with U4GM
War Plans Tactics in Diablo 4 can improve your chances of finding useful activities and rewards, but it cannot promise a specific result. If you are looking for Diablo IV Items or materials for your next upgrade, treat each point as a way to shape your options rather than secure a particular drop. The system is available to Seasonal and Eternal characters on the 3.3.0 Public Test Realm.

Invest in activities you actually want to run

Completing War Plans activities earns Tactics points, which you can put into activity or reward nodes. An activity node holds up to three points, and investing in it makes that activity more likely to appear among your offered War Plans. The decision matters most when you have a clear preference for what you want to play, since the points influence offers rather than remove randomness.

Helltides and Nightmare Dungeons each open an additional preference after you put at least one point into their respective activity node. The Helltides option increases the chance of Greater Helltides, while the Nightmare Dungeons option does the same for Escalation Dungeons. Start with the activity you intend to run; unlocking a preference for content you do not want to complete gives you little reason to choose it.

Match reward preferences to your next need

The reward side offers ten nodes: Armor, Weapons, Jewelry, Obducite, Salvage, Gems, Gold, Activity Keys, Horadric Cube Materials, and Talisman Items. Each accepts up to three points, with each point improving the chance that you can choose that reward. These are preferences for reward options, not guarantees of a particular item or quantity.

Filling every reward node requires 30 points, so consider what is holding up your character before spreading points around. A player seeking equipment can prioritize the relevant gear category, while someone focused on materials can select the corresponding resource. If your immediate goal changes, reassess the allocation instead of assuming the same reward mix will remain useful.

Keep adjustment costs in view

Completed War Plans also award Marks of Wisdom, which are used to change nodes in both the Tactics tree and individual Activity trees. They replace the previous gold cost for these adjustments, tying the resource for changes to War Plans rewards. This gives your choices a cost even when you have gold available, so avoid changing a layout without a specific reason.

On the PTR, the cap is 20 Marks of Wisdom. The Unlock and Max War Plans test boost supplies 20 Marks of Wisdom and three Marks of El'druin, giving testers a way to explore allocations. The cap and boost are PTR details; they should not be treated as a promise about the final release.

Plan Helltide runs around the new timing

Base game Helltides begin on the hour, while expansion zone Helltides begin at half past. A new event therefore starts every 30 minutes across the two zone groups, and at least one Helltide is always active in a base game zone. These timing changes apply even when a Helltide is not part of a War Plan.

Aberrant Cinders also carry over between events instead of resetting, removing the need to spend them before an event ends solely to avoid losing them. Elsewhere on the PC PTR, the Corrupted Reaper and Fractured Reaper share a Lair Boss encounter, and Infernal Hordes and the Pit have changes to test. Test boosts can provide the relevant keys, Tributes, Infernal Compasses, and Nightmare Escalation Sigils.

Before committing more points, complete War Plans with a defined activity or reward goal and watch which options appear. If that goal shifts toward equipment, including cheap diablo 4 gear, revisit the relevant reward preference and check your Marks of Wisdom before making changes. Keep the odds-based limit in mind when judging the result.

Putting a point into Nightmare Dungeons opens the Escalation Dungeons option in Diablo 4's War Plans Tactics.
